Homemade Chicago Style Pizza~

Crust~
1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 c. warm water (105-115 degrees)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 1/2 c. all purpose or whole wheat flour (if using self rising flour omit salt)

CRUST: Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat vigorously 20 strokes. Let rest 5 minutes. Press into bottom and sides of a 14"x2" round deep dish, lightly oiled pizza pan and bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 10 minutes. You can use a regular pizza pan just make a rolled crust around the edges of the pan to hold in all the ingredients.

Take out of the oven and add pizza sauce.

Homemade Pizza Sauce~
8 ounce can of Tomato Sauce
1/2 t. Basil
1/2 t. Oregano
1/4 t. garlic powder
1 t. sugar
1 t. onion powder
1 T. olive oil
Mix all together and put on pizza crust.

Last add all of your favorite toppings:
Italian Sausage
Canadian Bacon
Pepperoni
Olives
Peppers
Onions
Cheese

Bake at 425 degrees for about 10 more minutes or until golden brown.

~However tonight at our house the we are taking the pantry challenge so we will
have a Pepperoni Chicago Style Pizza.

I am desperate for pizza tonight but since I'm in Phase 1 (thanks to a little indiscretion over the weekend) it will be grilled chicken for me tonight--and Doc gets no choice in the matter! He eats whatever I put in front of him. That's in our marriage vows or at least it should have been!
