Will Today Be The End Of The World?

It blows my mind away how some people get caught up in setting dates for Christ's return and the end of this age.  For over centuries man has tried to calculate and figure just when the Second Coming will be. Yet  when someone makes a new prediction there are gullible people who get on board and sell all their worldly possessions. I wonder how they feel when they wake up  the next day and it is not so?

There is a danger when man decides to start playing God. We must study our Bible! God has all the answers. If you sold everything you own ~ I am sorry but today is not the day of my Saviour's return.

 How do I know?

Matthew 13~

31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
32But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
33Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

Over the past 2000 years there have been many date setters~ and as you can see they were all wrong. There are just too many following men instead of God and His Word.

German mathematician, Michael Stifel, based on his study of Revelation, calculated that God’s Day of Judgment would be on October 19, 1533.

Charles Taze Russell, founder of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, calculated 1874 to be the year of Christ’s return. It was then changed to 1878, 1881, 1910, 1914 with later dates.

Because of men like these, and modern day fanatics, many people shy away from Biblical teachings about Christ coming again and the end of this age as we know it.

Jesus did promise He will come again. The angles assured the followers of Jesus on the day of His ascension into Heaven after His death that He would return saying~

Acts 1:11 (King James Version)

11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

The fact is, Jesus is coming again. We just don't know when~only the Father knows the time when this life will be over. It may be tomorrow, it may be a hundred years from now, it may be thousands of years from now but He will one day come as a thief in the night. The important thing is to know that you have a reservation in Heaven and that you are ready.

If you have never received Christ as your Saviour ~today would be the perfect day. Click here to know how you can make your reservation.

Beings I am just sure today is not the end of the world I am taking three teenage boys to Worlds of Fun. Although by the end of the day at an amusement park with teenagers I may wish today was the end of the world.

You have a wonderful day~
 Peace and Blessings!

Amen. If we knew the end of the world date and time, then how could there be true followers of Jesus? Everyone could live in horrid sin then suddenly repent. I do not believe that is the way God intended us to believe in his Son. Do what you will but by 6 pm on May 21st, you had better repent. No I believe God wants us to believe and follow Jesus with a true heart.

Great post, Carrie. How unfortunate that folks are setting dates instead of burying themselves in the Word of God.
What the world needs is not another prediction, but the faithful Word of God in their lives. How wonderful it is to read His precious Word and be filled with HIS TRUTHS!!
Be blessed.

Amen and amen Carrie!! It amazes me how people will FLOCK to the teaching of a mere man, yet totally MISS the words of the SON OF GOD!!!! And I shudder when I hear these predictions made by so-called Christians, because they do make others skeptical of the fact that Jesus IS coming back to take His people to heaven. May we all watch and be ready, and may we constantly filter everything we hear through THE TRUTH OF THE WORD OF GOD!!!

Oh, I completely agree! I am actually really mortified, because I think that this really makes Christians (all of us) look ridiculous. Now I don't mind looking "foolish" for the sake of Christ, but this is different!

I knew about the Great Disappointment of the late 1800's but didn't know about the prediction as far back as 1533! Wow, this has been going on far longer than I thought!

Thank you for speaking the truth! I couldn't agree with you more!

Blessings,
Jenni

P.S. That cracked me up, what you said about maybe wishing today was the end of the world by the end of a day at the amusement park with the kids! ;)

Carrie, my prayer always goes out to these people, because I worry what they will do if the resurrection doesn't come, will they end it to save face? Thank you for a post that doesn't condemn these people, but turns to the Word!

What a wonderful world this would be if we all lived as if this was the day that JESUS was returning. My prayer is that I will live my life in such a manner.

What a great post. It's kinda hard not to laugh at those people and shake your head and think "Why?" And then they get mad when it doesn't happen...they should know better! All they have to do it read the Bible and know! I just hope and pray one day they will realize the truth and trust in the One and Only Father and His teaching...not the teachings of man!
Blessings,
Elizabeth
