Here Comes The Storm~

"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened." - Winston Churchill

Sometimes out of no where you feel a storm brewing. What do we do when the storms of life start to rage? We are going to have troubles and trials as long as we have breath in our being! Stormy weather can cause intense feelings of fear and reactions in us.

Job 14:1

Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

Job 5:7

Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward

In Matthew 14:22-23 the Bible gives us a story of Peter walking on the water. He had found himself in a storm in life. The disciples that were with him were afraid. They were afraid when they saw Jesus walking on the water. Jesus told them who He was. Peter walked on water too~ well at first. When Peter took his eyes off of Christ and began to concentrate on the storm around him, he became afraid and begin to sink. We will sink too~when we take our eyes off of Christ!
It is natural when we see the storm clouds swirl above our heads to give into feelings of fear. In Matthew 14:31 when Peter began to sink he called out to Jesus.

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him,
and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

I know we like to focus on the "little faith" part but we need to look at the part where Jesus stretched out His hand and caught Peter. Oh~ I love that part. Peter had failed to have the faith he needed to have but Christ caught him. This just puts the spring into my step today. Sometimes I just need Jesus to catch me too!

Then on in the chapter in verse 31 it reads~
And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

Jesus did not stop the storm . No~He caught him and was with him until they got into the boat. Sometimes we have to walk through the storm~sometimes God will remove the storm.

*The important thing to remember is that Jesus will always be with us as we are facing the storms of life. You see Jesus was the very one who told them to get into the boat and go to the other side in the first place. The storm did not take Him by surprise!

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get
into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side,
while he sent the multitudes away.  Matthew 14:22

You see sometimes we have to deal with issues in our lives that we really don't like~it is easy to question God about these very issues.  We may question why we have to handle these issues because it disturbs our smooth sailing in life. Maybe~ we are in the center of God's will--- right where He told us to be----- doing what He wants us to do and still we have a storm come out of nowhere. *We can take comfort in the fact that God knows all about the storm and He is there with us through every dark sky, every loud thunder and every strike of lightning!

I can't imagine what it would be like to go through the storms in life without God leading us through. He is so faithful!

Such a poignant post about remember to trust in the power of Christ instead of the "power" of our environment or circumstances. I have had the chance, like Peter, too many times in life, to choose to keep my eyes on HIM and defy the mess around me. Keeping our eyes on God and trusting in Him to see all that we can't see is actually comforting.

Love the way you present the entry with scripture mixed with your perspective. Isn't God the coolest??
