A Lesson From Patches~

The Holidays are packed away for another year. Life has returned to order and routine once again. I am feeling extra comfortable this morning in my over sized chair with my yummy caramel coffee. I am enjoying my quiet devotion time this morning. As I sit here~  Patches ~ our cat is curled up on my lap.

It is my devotion time but the cares of today are distracting me and we all have them. Don't we?

The Lord softly drew my attention to Patches~ our cat. She is simply just resting in my lap. She is a special kitty for she was born with a neurological disorder. She has had lots of love and care and has turned out to be one smart kitty.

As I look at her ~she simply rests in the warmth and safety of my lap. She has no fears, no worries, no concerns for her safety. She is not agitated or anxious. She trust that I will take care of her and I will. She knows that no harm will come to her because the person who loves her most is holding her close.

Oh~ that we may simply trust God like Patches trusts me. If we ever truly place ourselves in the lap of Jesus ~ all the cares of the day would melt away. The warmth of God's embrace would quiet our souls and ease our burdens.

When the struggle of the day seems overwhelming ~when the demands are more than we can handle~ we just need to climb up in the lap of Jesus. It is really not so difficult. I only need to look at Patches and trust God just like she trusts me.

We can just rest when the One who loves us most is holding us close~ Now that is worth celebrating today. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Psalm 116:7 (KJV)

Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.

Hello Carrie,
What a lovely lesson - not sure whether to thank you or Patches! As you know there are bushfires burning all over our state and a severe fire warning for my region today. There are no fires near us thankfully, the forecast is for 98-99 F but I expect it to go higher than that and the predicted winds are a worry. There is great information out there though and the rural fire service volunteers do an incredible job fighting the fires - so far no loss of life has been reported in NSW. I have taken down my decorations and spent some time cleaning and organizing my home. Today I think will be spent in the pool. I have my important documents and photos ready to grab if we do have to evacuate. We would head to the beach - there are designated places of safety for all areas. Thank you for praying for us today.

Thank you and Patches for the post. I have often thought of how Jesus is our "comforter" and how nice and warm and safe we feel with a blanket or "comforter" wrapped around us. That feeling of contentment and safety when we are close to Him. :) Lori L.
