My New Favorite Thing~
Oh my stars~ I received this coffee for Christmas and it is heavenly. I think it is the best coffee I have ever tasted. I searched their website to see just how much my "new favorite thing" would set me back only to find this flavor is not on their site. I may have to call them ~ with my Hannah's prompting. She is in love with it too.
I am here once again. I am so thankful for my quiet time with the Lord each morning. It is here that I re-fuel for the day. And believe me with a day of Algebra ahead ~ I am going to need it. This is my last year of homeschooling after two decades. I am so ready to never do Algebra again in all the rest of my days. Did I tell you I hate Algebra?
This morning as I was cooking my Brian french toast~ I listened to a Bible teacher. She said, "God may see our heart but the world only sees our behavior." Now if that does not convict a person. Everything we say and do reflects who we are, who we belong to and where we place our faith.
It is real hard to watch the news each day and not get discouraged when I hear of how women and children are being sold for their bodies, how smut is being passed off as entertainment and how it appears our country is becoming more and more dependent upon government and man rather than God. It seems not many are excited about God's gift of eternal life and peace. It has a tendency to make us mad~ unloving and uncaring!
What can a person do?
I remember Grandmother Baker would tell me to apply a little elbow grease. I hated when she said that because it usually meant more work and effort on my part. ( She taught me how to work let me tell you.) I think a little elbow grease on our part coupled with God's amazing grace and mercy may just help.
Just a little love will sweeten a relationship. Maybe a little mercy extended will lead someone to Jesus. A ounce of Biblical truth seasoned with love and a dash of grace will enlighten the darkest soul.
When God handed down the Creation to man~ He handed down the responsibility to govern it. God did not intend for us to govern with an iron fist. That is not how He deals with us. We will never reach those who do not know Jesus by being a bully. Have you ever been bullied? How did that work?
How about making a casserole for a single parent who is working two jobs and needs a little encouragement or that frazzled new mom. How about checking on an elderly neighbor or chatting with blue-haired ladies at church. Kind of looks like being Jesus to the least of these.
I am not saying we have to work our way to Heaven here~ I believe we are saved by grace not works. I am just restating what I heard this morning. "God may only look at our heart but the world only sees our behavior." No one cares how much we know until they know how much we care.
Psalm 8:9
O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Great post Carrie! I so agree. It seems these days anything goes and so much of the "Christian" World seems to buy into that attitude... I love the quote... I pray that My life would be a witness to God's love. I also want to be one that others can pic "fruit" from.. the fruit of the Spirit. Appreciate your stand for the Lord. Blessings!
that is a very good post! thank you for the reminder!
Absolutely Carrie. I hear so many people say 'but God sees the heart' to excuse bad or poor behaviour on behalf of Christians they know. It's used to excuse all manner of things from dressing immodestly, to swearing to laziness. Oh yes, we all have sinned and let Him down but we are His representatives on this earth, His hands and His feet. I am so disappointed when I can see no discernible difference in the lives of Christians to those outside of the church. So sad. We need to live lives worthy of the calling and stop cheapening grace. I think that statement in your devotion was spoken by a wise woman indeed!
P.S I hate algebra too. My son taught himself and told me it was easy to understand. I still don't believe him!
I so enjoyed this devotion...came straight from your heart from the Lord I know!! You truly are a blessing to me as a Pastor's wife.. I love you Carrie and I know God has GREAT things in store for you and your precious family !!
P.S. By the way ~~ What is Algebra? lol
It's so wonderful to be able to read words from a like-minded Christian....thank you for your words today! Those "little" things we do for others does make a difference in this dark world!
And I'm right with you on Algebra! Joy would say "Amen" as well.

Hope your new year is starting out with joy and peace. May He give us grace to live our lives to His honor and glory!
Hi Carrie, My where does the time go? I just realized you had two post I needed to catch up on:) I also hated Algebra, but my son did teach himself. Our oldest grandson came over the other morning and I did get the chance to help him with his math.
Really have been excited about the sweet changes the Lord is doing in my life.
I would also like to have a button made up for my blog (good-luck with that Rox) LOL
Just think, we are the older women now.. I was just thinking do we even have those younger gals that want us to mentor them?
I still just follow His leading in dress and mannerism and such. God is so good!
Blessings, Roxy
