I read and review a lot of books. Sometimes they are just so-so and I skim them. NOT ~ this one. I did not want to miss one single word of this book. As Winter Storm Nika blew I was curled up with this book and coffee.
I was captivated from the very first line. You couldn't help but put yourself in Lindie's shoes. The book starts off with her brother taking her~ pregnant from Ohio to Michigan to marry Josiah. An arranged marriage is not what she dreamed of but she had no choice. Josiah agrees to marry her out of desperation and tells her up front he will give her his name but not his heart. How in the world did this poor Amish girl get herself in this mess?
Life is not easy for Lindie ~ caring for Josiah's deaf and out of control child. Not to mention that Josiah's father-in-law who won't even look at her let along speak to her. And Josiah refusing to give his heart again in honor of his late wife. And then there was that fact of her being pregnant and trying to keep it under wraps.
I absolutely loved this book. Out of 5 stars I give it a 10. I have never read a book by Ruth Reid but I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series~ Amish Wonders Series.
