Last fall I had major surgery~ my one and only in my lifetime. It was way harder than I imagined. I was not prepared at all. My youngest daughter came home for a couple weeks and took care of her momma. I slept in a recliner for a couple weeks because it hurt to even try to get up and down. I was crabby ~ helpless is a word that is not in my vocabulary. My whole body hurt and did not function properly.
We as believers are much like that~ the body of Christ can't function when parts of us are wounded or knocked for a loop. In fact, when someone has fallen down we are tempted to add insult to injury. Why in the world do we want to shoot our wounded?
When parts of our earthly body are not being exercised enough they moan and groan. We all have a job to do building one another up. Healthy bodies work together to fulfill what God has called us to do.
I am going to go a little deeper. As a born-again blood-bought children of God we need to be kind and loving to all people~ even those outside of our local church. I have been convicted of being critical of other believers and churches. Let's not be critical of each other but encourage and build each other ~ nurturing one another. After all~ one day we will all spend eternity together.
My Hannah took such great care of me. She would wake me up when it was time for medicine. She made sure I drank enough water and ate my fruits and veggies. She even made sure I had enough protein for my body to heal. It was so refreshing having her love me so well when I needed it the most. Who in your world needs you to lift them up today?Someone you meet today needs a little kindness. Remember to show love to those that cross your path today.
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness
