Homemade Chicago Style Pizza~

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1 c. warm water (105-115 degrees)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 1/2 c. all purpose or whole wheat flour (if using self rising flour omit salt)

Press into bottom and sides of a 14"x2" round deep dish, lightly oiled pizza pan and bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 10 minutes. Italian Sausage

~However tonight at our house the we are taking the pantry challenge so we will
have a Pepperoni Chicago Style Pizza.

What The Other Chick Has~

I went out to the chicken coop to find a knock down~ drag out fight between these two girls. This is Layla and Ruby my cast of characters in today's post. We have four nesting boxes in our coop. This morning both girls wanted to lay their eggs in the same nesting box at the same time. There was no reasoning with either one of them. They were squawking and pecking at each other. The worst part was both of them trying to fit their rather plump little beings in the same box while trying to make a whole in the straw to lay their egg. It was a sight to see. Neither one would leave so I left them both fighting with one another and I came back later to find they indeed did squeeze in there together to lay their eggs. If I were a chicken I would have rather had my very own spacious nesting box where I could relax~right next door.

You know the funny thing is we can be just like those greedy chickens wanting what another has. I once had a friend who was so upset with me for moving into a bigger house she would not speak to me for a year. I didn't even know what I had done.

Let's not be like Layla and Ruby. We need to rejoice and be happy for those who are getting blessed. We need to be happy and thankful for the man we share our life with, with the provision he provides, with the children God has given us and with the home in which we have been blessed to share with those we love. Let's rejoice with those who rejoice~weep with those who weep ~and for Heaven's sake let's not covet what the other chick has!

Proverbs 14:30 (King James Version)

30A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Proverbs 27:4 (King James Version)

4Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?

Driving Miss Daisy~ Take 2

We have safely delivered Yo Yo the cat to the Animal Hospital. He has thyroid tumors that are cancer. They feel it was caught early and he should make a complete recovery. He had radioactive therapy through an IV and he went through the procedure just fine. I am happy for Miss Billie ~she was worried her beloved Yo would not make it. As frail as the cat is I was a bit worried myself.

It was smooth sailing and even though the old gold Caddy is vintage she still gives a comfortable ride that only a Caddy can give. Miss Billie did well considering. She began to drip with tears as we left Yo there for 5 days. However~ she assured me that there was something blooming that had her allergies in a tizzy. All is safe in sound until the next time.

I truly do sometimes feel like I am in a movie as we take our journeys. She says the funniest things and she keeps me laughing all the time. She has such a funny side to her. I learn something of value almost every time we spend time together. I think I have just fallen head over heels for my Friend~Miss Billie. We both have birthdays in May. Our favorite color is yellow. We love gardening but roses are our favorite. We both seem to think our way is the best way . Somewhere inside I think maybe she and I ~though we are generations apart~ are cut from the same mold. Yes~I believe God loves Miss Billie so much that he sent a 4o some year old version of herself to bring her to Jesus.

To think all she has witnessed in her 85 years~so many changes. Yet to her it seems like only yesterday that she was a child roller skating down Ashland Avenue. Just another reason to cherish the moments~for they soon will be memories to treasure.

We have had a really bad winter in our part of Missouri. Miss Billie hates winter and gloomy days. In fact on rainy days she gets quite contrary! It snowed from November to March with many gloomy days in between. SO~a couple of weeks ago we were driving Yo to the Vet in our hometown and I said, "Oh it is just so beautiful, the trees are budding, the tulips and daffodils are beautiful the lilacs are in full bloom~it is just a beautiful spring." To which Miss Billie replies, " Well we certainly deserve it." You just have to imagine the same attitude that Jessica Tandy has in the movie is Billie's real life attitude.

Thank you for all your comments and prayers~ all is well.

Thankful Tuesday~ Another Episode Of Driving Miss BIllie

This morning I am driving Miss Billie in her vintage ~like new Cadillac~ to Overland Park, Ks to take her beloved cat~who has Cancer and needs treatment~ to the Hospital. So if you happen to see an antique Caddy, (huge I might add) an 85 year old Miss Billie with a big hair lady driving down the highway~just know it is me driving Miss Billie.

If you would have asked me to take on this task of loving Miss Billie a year ago I would have gracefully declined. But I know God has placed me in Billie's life to lead her to the saving knowledge of Jesus. Can I ask all you Godly blog friends to pray? My time is running out. Gotta run~ while you are on your knees please pray the antique Caddy makes it all the way.

Miss Billie believes the cat will feel more at home in her own car!

I really am blessed and feel very thankful for this wonderful life I live. Walking in the will of God is the greatest job in all the world~

Thank You Lord~

As the world looks upon me, as I struggle along
They say I have nothing, but they are so wrong
In my heart I'm rejoicing, how I wish they could see
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me

There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table
And shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord
And a fine family
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me

Now I know I'm not wealthy, and these clothes , they're not new
I don't have much money, but Lord I have you
And to me that's all that matters, though the world cannot see
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me

When I Was A Child~I Spoke As A Child

Hannah captured this crazy picture while we were junking at an antique store.

Colossians 3:2

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

I have been reminiscing here lately about my days homeschooling Hannah. In 15 days I will close a chapter in my life with my daughter~she will graduate. I know that happens every day but I have homeschooled Hannah from kindergarten until now. We have played together, learned together and been friends. I am going to miss these days for sure. We laughed together and cried over Algebra~not either of our strong pursuits. When Hannah was born she looked like a little Papoose~she was just a bundle of joy. She never fussed or cried~she was just happy all the time. I mentioned this a couple of days ago but her very first day of school she told me she had better things to do than school. Hannah was a child and she spoke as a child. Teaching Hannah was a job, let me tell you. For she thought the world was passing her by while she was sitting at her school desk. Something happened as she entered high school. She began to grow up ~she realized she was going to have to get through all her studies even if the world was having fun without her. She would wake up eager to get her chores and her schoolwork done without me telling her what had to be done. Something happened~my little girl was growing up. She wasn't acting like a child any more~she had put away childish things~well for the most part. She still likes to have a good time. Hannah matured and her behaviour began to display her growth. I so enjoyed being a Mom to all my children but it would be unnatural for them to behave as children all their lives. I want them to grow up, serve God and have a family of their own. It is just God's plan. It would be terribly sad if my relationship with Hannah never progressed beyond now.

So it is in our Christian walk. God created us to bring Him pleasure. He wants a relationship with His children. He also wants to see His children to grow spiritually mature. The more and more I fellowship with Him the more I grow. I have been saved for 28 years I should be acting 28 years mature~ spiritually. I don't want to behave as a child. Just as I have grown to know my daughter through these years by spending day in and day out with her~I need to learn all I can about God. The Christian life is a journey of discovery through God's Word how He thinks, what He dislikes~who He is.

When we backslide or put God on a shelf for our own agenda or journey we get behind in our growing. Our Heavenly Father deserves to have children who grow steadily and decide to get up and do their chores and learning without being told what to do. We need to be learning daily in wisdom and knowledge just what it is that God wants from our lives.

To be a mature Christian we must realize that what God thinks is more important than what we think. For Heavens sake~let's grow up spiritually, so we can reach the potential God has given us.

There's A Sweet~Sweet Bird Singing In My Heart~

Psalm 40:3

3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

I just walked out and fed my chickens and let them out for the day. They are always so eager to start their day. They fly out the door and I have to duck or they mess up my hair~no kidding. They are happy to see me because I bring food. They bwok at me and we talk for awhile. I love my girls. This morning I stopped in my tracks and listened to all the birds singing their three part harmony around our land . It made me smile.

There's a sweet, sweet bird singing in my heart
singing such a happy little song.
There's a sweet, sweet bird singing in my heart,
singing such a happy little song.
The whole world round is way down in the dumps,
way down in the dumps~
Hi HO Cheerio ~
there's a sweet, sweet bird singing in my heart
singing such a happy little song.

I learned this song as a little girl in Sunday School. I have sang it to my children when they lost their song. I sing it to my kindergarten students in Sunday School and Homeschool Classes. It is a bit vintage~te he~ but I am beginning to be vintage myself. Last night in church ~during our weekly soul winning charge it was used to remind us how to find our song again. Have you lost your song? Have you ever started out the day with your song?~But how quickly it disappeared with an unkind word from someone you love. Sometimes you lose your song because life just just plain hard. Sometimes you lose your song because of disappointments.

Let's face it life has it's wonderful times and moments that take our breathe away. Yet~sometimes it seems like we are mice on a wheel doing the same thing over and over everyday. We all face trials everyday. I sometimes think would it matter to anyone if I were not here doing the same thing day after day? I hate pity parties and this is not one~I have told my children time and time again, "Pity parties are a waste of time." Nothing is helped by feeling sorry for ourselves!

So what is a girl to do when she has lost her song? If you want to find your song you have to go back to where you lost it. Only a personal walk with God can fill our hearts with a song. Pick up you Bible and read it until God softens your heart and speaks to you. Close your bedroom door and get on your knees. Pour out your heart to the Heavenly Father. Confess any sin that might be quieting your song and ask God to give you a song once again. If you have lost your song it is because you gave it away.

I am choosing to sing today~how about you?

We Have Been Junking Again

Hannah and I went junking last Friday and found some wonderful treasures. I have a dish fetish. I found some of these apple shaped dishes about a year ago. I only found the 6 plates. Last week I snatched these beauties from Rusty Chandelier~6 plates, 6 bowels, 6 cups and saucers. I love to use these for brunch or Saturday morning breakfast.

The silver cake platter I found at a Garage Sale for $1.00. I bought it for my booth at Rusty Chandelier but I changed my mind. I just think I need to keep it myself. Hannah and I treated ourselves to a Mocha Latte from Dairy Queen and shopped our until our hearts were content~ we found so many treasures. Best of all~ we made memories!

Oh My! Tilly Found A Snake!~

As I was doing dishes I see Tilly running across the back yard with a super big worm~so I thought. All the other girls were chasing her at record speed. Upon further investigation I see it is none other than a baby snake. By now all of State Route W can here me calling my family. Forget about snakes in the road now I have one right on my found porch in my pet chicken's mouth. Hannah comes to my rescue~well maybe not. She loves snakes and decides to save it's poor dear life from Tilly. No kidding. Poor Tilly is never going to forgive Hannah for stealing her treasure. She was so proud of herself! The snake is now free to grow and get bigger. I can see it now~it will be in the chicken coop going after my eggs. I am sure 18 year girls are not suppose to want to save snake's lives. See~ I truly have lost all control at Farming On Faith. First chickens in the kitchen and now snakes on my front porch.
What is next for this city girl who is trying hard to conform to country living?

~Chicken In The Kitchen~

Sami walking right on in the kitchen door after she has dug in my plants!

I was in my kitchen doing dishes yesterday and I hear a thump and a scratch. I look at the door and low and behold who do I see but Sami Bird. My Hannah has been feeding her snacks at the back door so she has decided to come begging for them.

She now scratches to get our attention. This is beginning to be a problem. If we ignore her she goes around the deck and looks in the window~oh my word I think we have created a little spoiled chicken. She even jumps for food like a dog. She has turned into a character for sure.

I have lost all control here at the Farming On Faith's Kitchen~
I remind children and chickens alike that I am the Mom and I am the boss.
You can see where it is getting me!

Food~Fun & Fellowship At Pisgah Baptist Church

I was invited to speak at Pisgah Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs last night. My sister and I had such a fun time with all you ladies. Did you know Baptist woman can cook just as good as the Amish women? LOL The food was wonderful and we had so much fun getting to make new friends. The event's theme was Spring Cleaning. I told you ~cleaning is my expertise. I love to clean. Thank you ladies~for your generosity. I feel very humbled and undeserving!

My devotion was on Spring Cleaning our spiritual houses as we spring clean our homes this Spring. We just need to keep a short sin account with God and keep our hearts, our minds and our souls clean. I will share my devotion some time this week.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God;

and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

As you all know ~I have been making my own Laundry Soap for a year.I have a new and improved recipe.Click here for the recipe. I also make most of my own cleaners and I am saving a huge amount of money. I dare you to give them a try! Click here for my recipes.

Farming On Faith's Chickens Turn One~

Happy Birthday Girls~
One year ago today at 9:00 PM~ the post office called to tell us our chickens were in and we needed to come pick them up for the office would be closed Sunday. My brother-in-law went to pick up 60 baby chicks. They were the cutest baby chicks you have ever seen. The fun part was trying to tell which baby chicks were the certain kind that we all had ordered. We did good except I ended up with my one brother-in-law's Barred Rocks which is now my Ruby. By the time we were able to tell that Ruby was not ours I was already attached! So~Ruby remained at Farming On Faith and my brother-in-law ended up with a Black Star that was to be mine~he still ribs me about it.
I have to tell you I love my girls. That day I became a Momma Hen. My girls run when I call and follow me around the yard. They truly have become our pets. It has been such a joy and I can't believe we have reached their 1st Birthday. We are celebrating with chocolate chip cookies!

Here is our year in a view~
