Greetings From Michigan~

~Taking A Break~

"In summer, the song sings itself."

~ William Carlos Williams ~

Greetings from Michigan. My Brian and I have taken a trip back to his childhood home and are visiting our Michigan family. It is the first time we have taken this trip alone since our honeymoon. We had such a fun drive here with cooler temps, dinner at one our favorite restaurants in Illinois and window shield talks. We had a bit of a scare with the family we left at home because a tornado watch was in the forecast last night at home. It passed over and all is well. Family, children and chickens are fine!

We are enjoying our time away and celebrating our anniversary. While we are so enjoying the romancing I am remembering all the trips we took every summer when our children were small back to visit Grandma and Grandpa. We have such fun memories of camping and spending summer vacations in Michigan. At times those long rides across three states were so much fun with every road game I could dream up, stops for McDonald's hamburgers and Denny's breakfast. Even the times we were puked on, spilled on and and wet on all now bring a smile to my face. I am so glad we have all those memories to cherish. Time has gone by so very fast.

It is a new day and My Brian and I are beginning a new chapter in life~although it is bittersweet ~we are determined to start our empty nest years enjoying every minute of the journey. This trip is just the beginning of many years to come.

I will be back soon~ hope you have a wonderful day!

Love puts the fun in together, the sad in apart, and the joy in a heart.

All you really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Spouse: someone who'll stand by you through all the trouble you wouldn't have had if you'd stayed single.

James 1:17

King James Version (KJV)

17Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

It's Not All About Me~ Even Though I Want It To Be!

Relationships are what make the world go around~ I mean they are wonderful. But they are so much work! If you have good relations with others, you can weather any trial that comes along on this journey of life. At times when your relationships are strained~ even the slightest problem can seem overwhelming. We truly identify ourselves by our relationships. We must never forget the most important relationship we have is with God. As a Christian~having a good relationship with Him is what makes this life worth living!

No one knows this to be true more than Satan. He will do whatever he can to destroy relationships. One of his tricks is to talk us into having the wrong attitudes about people.

God created us to walk with Him and love Him. Instead~ from the very beginning of time mankind has chosen wickedness over godliness. Again and again His creation proves to Him that we do not want to do things His way~nope we want things our way most of the time.  Most humans either know nothing of God, or they hate Him telling them what to do or how to live their lives. Most of the time~ He is misquoted, misunderstood, and misrepresented. He has more enemies than I will ever have. Yet~ though He could change everything in a moment to get His way~ He does not. God continues to make the sun rise each morning. He keeps giving us air to breathe and food to eat. He showers us with undeserved blessings each and every day. Yet~ those of us who claim Him as our Father don't give Him the attention and love He deserves.

This realization puts everything in perspective. Even though I want everything to be about me. Well don't think I am selfish ~ what about you?  I mean I want everything to be right, everyone to get along, to have peace, joy and happiness all the time. ~I want life to be a bowl full  of cherries with white picket fences and white lace promises. I don't really want hard times ~do you? As a Christian I know that as we try to walk and follow Christ we are going to have trials and heart aches.

The lie that the Devil has us believing is that we deserve better.  When someone mistreats you and that thought comes to your mind~ it is not from the Lord! Satan is whispering in your ear. Jesus never told us to stand up and make others respect us. He told us to take evil and to turn the other cheek .

Matthew 5:39

But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

We are very concerned about being treated properly by our husbands, our children and all other mankind.
Yet~ maybe we need to lower the bar of expectation when it comes to how we expect the world to treat us. I see nowhere in the Gospels that Jesus demanded respect. In fact~ He told people on several occasions not to mention Who He was. He did not want to raise Himself up but to be a servant.  He always  went about doing good .

 Acts 10:38

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

When we feel like our feelings have been trampled on and we feel taken for granted it is time to quote this verse.

1 Corinthians 6:7

Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

It will serve us best to think about what Christ took for us on the cross and how He takes unjust treatment from the hands of sinful men~ or His children for that matter! Let's face it we all have caused a tear or two to fall from God's eyes. But He continues to love and bless us day after day. What an amazing Father! He will not have to tolerate unfair treatment forever. The day will come when  He will rule and reign in a sinless world. The same is true for us. If we humble ourselves God will exalt us.

1 Peter 5:6  Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Just like my Heavenly Father I want to be about others and not myself~never demanding~ always serving~ and always loving!

Have a wonderful day~ ours is sure to be toasty Tuesday! Summer has hit with a heat wave here at Farming On Faith~and I am loving it! Just had to share my boy at the beach!

Do You Ever Need A Do Over?

It is a new day~hallelujah! If  I have ever needed a fresh blank page it is today. How about you? Sometimes you just want to start over? When I was little and I played with my aunt ~who is a bit like my big sister~ I could never beat her at anything. She was four years older~oh the times I cried~ "Do over!" Sometimes she was stinky and said~ "NO"~imagine that. But sometimes she would let me have do overs and let me win! "Do overs" are so wonderful. I am so thankful that God always allows ~ "do overs."

Psalm 37:1-8

1Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
7Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil

Too often we can get caught up in viewing our circumstances and we fail to see the full picture. God is faithful each and every day. I hope you have a Happy Monday!

The Little Things~

Psalm 100:4

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Sometimes we women have a hard time staying content. We are always wanting something new, something better, something brighter. How many times ~I have thought if I could just go to Target
(  I am not real high dollar shopper) fill up a shopping cart  and get everything I think I need for my house to be organized and make life better and prettier. Have you ever echoed that thought before?
The Scriptures are clear that a thankful heart is a happy heart. To have complete happiness we must enter into the Lord's presence with thanksgiving.  True happiness can not be bought or sought! It only comes from spending time with God in a close relationship. Everything else will only leave us feeling empty inside. God made us this way~with a need for Him. When we try to put our husbands, children or things in this spot we will be unhappy!  I have found in my own life that when I am appreciative for all I have, and I am reading my Bible, and praying my mental, physical, and spiritual dimensions are in balance with each other. My chores run smoother and the mood of my home is peaceful. I find I am excited to jump out of bed every day challenged for what may come my way.

In our material world ~we need to take our eyes off the "stuff" and become women of thanksgiving. When we remain thankful, the possessions will be in proper perspective and happiness will not elude us. Lets focus today on all our blessings and the little things!
