This Is What Love Looks Like~ Happy Valentine's Day

Our dishwasher begins making a bad sound. It sounded like electricity shooting against the door. (Well sort-of-maybe.)  I knew it did not sound right so I mentioned it a time or two and my Brian decided to take it apart. He has the ability to take things apart and find the problem almost always.

In the middle of that was smelly gross water all over my floor ~ so I kept the towels coming and the washer a- going. In order to find the problem, he had to do a little searching. In the process, he had me blow into the drain hose. Yuck~ I made a cup with my hands never touching that hose and blew. Only, I was afraid that he may see my being such a girl and think I was being ridiculous so I blew as hard as I could. Just as I did he got a face full of yucky ~ disgusting water with food particles. I mean it could have been on the Dirtiest Job show. I was just sure he was going to come unglued. After all~ I would have if it had been turned around. When he looked at my face~ which I am sure registered horror ~ he just laughed. It was a good thing because by this time I could not contain my laughter. Never have I felt more loved.

He decided the little silver balls( that looked like sterling silver earrings) called the ball bearings were the problem. They had worn out the little grooves they roll in. I had no interest what-so-ever in the lesson but he explained it all to me. Because I really do adore him ~ I listened. I am now a little wiser and so impressed that he found the problem. It is fixed and running as quiet as a mouse. That's what love looks like.

There was  a time when I noticed when he didn't buy roses or write love notes. But almost 25 years later I now know what love looks like. It is a man who loves God and his family enough to walk courageous and keep his priorities in line~ to walk in integrity, faithfulness and honor. It is a man who makes sure nothing I own is broken. It is a man who makes sure my walk is shoveled and my house is just how I think it needs to be. It is a man willing to paint a kitchen four times to get the right shade to please me. It is a man who tries so hard to keep me happy. That is what love looks like.

Instead of looking at what that man God has blessed us with doesn't do -it is so much wiser to look at all he does do. I promise you ~ it will amaze you. That is what true love looks like.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

King James Version (KJV)
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

So very true. That's what love looks like at my house too. We have been married 28 years. And I love him more every single day. Blessings to you my friend!

Amen and Amen. I can't remember when I last received a card from my hubby. Flowers were 25 years ago after the last baby. Candy? Maybe our first valentine's day together. But, oh my! That man adores me and does all the things you mentioned. His love language is practical things and I adore him for it. We've been married 36 years this year and I wouldn't choose the card, flower, candy bearing man over him. Ever. He is the perfect man for me. God surely knew what he was doing when we met in that Sunday school class 38 years ago. :-)

Hello Carrie, just got caught up on your last few posts! I laughed over the yucky water! Cried over the kids moving again. And loved the word of being calm. Oh, and the beans and rice looked yummy!
And yes we must always back everything up with scripture :)
