For Heaven's Sake Please Think Before You Post That~

This morning I have been piddling in my office. Do you ever piddle? I have been filling in at my  friend's church as a secretary until they find a full-time Administrative Assistant. Let me tell you working outside the home doesn't leave much piddling time~ and I miss my piddling time. I have gone through my desk and drank coffee and read and did my devotions. Life is good. I have missed you my blog friends.

As I was piddling I filed away last years important cards, notes and letters. I came across a card my mother-in-law gave me for my birthday last year. All her cards thanked me for loving her son, for adding joy to her family followed with~" I love you and I can't wait to see you."  She came to visit each year around my birthday. That is sweet but you want to know why her words are so sweet now?  After her visit last May, I hugged her goodbye. She always cried when she left to head back home. I always kissed her on the cheek. 25 years ago that shocked her~ but it had become our normal and this touchy feely girl taught her to kiss my cheek too. The fact being she was not the touchy-feely type meant she loved me. Less than a month after that final kiss goodbye she passed away all the sudden and flew home to Glory.

So as I was reading her card once again this morning I decided to log onto her Facebook page. One of the last things she had done the day she passed away was wish our sweet Granddaughter Happy Birthday. She passed away on our Olivia's 1st Birthday.  We now scroll her Facebook page as a memorial when we miss her and it's our place we can tell her we love her and somehow feel a little closer to see her words and pictures. Her page tells a story about who she was and how much she loved her kids and grandkids.

The words that we post on social media are leaving a trail of who we really are. I see anger shouted out between the lines on Facebook, hurtful words that we would never say in person, religious rants trying to manipulate others into changing to our way of thinking. But did you ever stop to think that one day your daughter-in-law will scroll through your feed once you have left this world ? Your children will leave love notes to you on  your Facebook page. They will search back and read all you posted. They will devour your words because it's all they have left.  For Heaven's sake~ please think before you post that post.

 Are your words going to build up or are they going to destroy? Are they going to build bridges or build ugly walls? Are they going to mend wounded hearts or break them in two? Are they going to encourage your children to walk with God or run as fast as they can from your manipulation? You see today what you post is telling a story of who you really are. What you really believe?  God commands us to love. He even tells us to love our enemies. What kind of a legacy are you leaving behind?

A new commandment I give unto you,

That ye love one another;

as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

John 13:3
